The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) will issue a revised List-II of approved solar PV cells effective June 1, 2026 — tightening the quality certification framework for solar panels sold and installed in India.
What Is List-II?
MNRE maintains an Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) for solar panels and cells. List-II specifically covers solar PV cells — the building blocks of every solar panel. Only cells from approved manufacturers on this list can be used in panels sold under government schemes including PM Surya Ghar.
Why It Matters
The revision means:
- Some currently approved cells may be removed if manufacturers do not meet updated quality standards
- New manufacturers may be added — including more Indian cell makers
- Installers must re-verify that panels they are sourcing use List-II compliant cells after June 1
Action for Dealers and Installers
Check with your panel supplier before June 1 to confirm their cells will appear on the updated list. Panels using non-listed cells cannot be used for PM Surya Ghar subsidy claims after the revision date.
