Overview
The Microtek EB 900 is the go-to budget pure sine wave inverter for Indian homes with modest power needs. At ₹4,800–5,500, it undercuts Luminous by nearly ₹800–1,000 for similar capacity — a meaningful difference for cost-conscious buyers.
The IGBT-based circuit handles common household loads: fans, LED lights, televisions and mobile chargers without any issues. It supports grid voltages from 100V to 280V, making it suitable for low-voltage supply areas.
Honest Assessment
The Microtek EB 900's weakness is its service network. While Luminous has service centres in virtually every district, Microtek's reach is strong in cities but thinner in smaller towns. This is the single biggest reason buyers choose Luminous over Microtek at similar prices — if anything goes wrong, Luminous is easier to get serviced.
That said, in urban and semi-urban areas with good Microtek dealer presence, the EB 900 has an excellent reliability record.
Load Handling
At 800VA / 672W, this is best for:
- 2 ceiling fans + 6 LED lights + TV = ~250–280W (comfortable)
- Add a small laptop and phone charging = ~320W (still fine)
- A refrigerator or mixer on top = pushing limits
For homes with more load, Microtek's 1400VA or 1600VA models are better suited.
Verdict for Dealers
Dealers in competitive urban markets who need to offer a lower price point than Luminous will find the EB 900 a strong tool. It rarely fails in the first 2 years and customer complaints are low — but stock spare parts or have a clear escalation path for warranty claims.
